Behind the Walls
Solid Rock began this prison ministry in 2001 by writing Christmas cards to four young men in Moore County Jail. It has grown to include over 250 inmates in 25 prisons in 8 states and 2 countries.
This ministry is headed up by Joann "MeeMee" Rice and includes six other letter writers. Each prisoner receives a weekly newletter from the church and a special one entitled " Behind The Walls" that is geared toward the inmates. The newletter has a section for Prayer Request and Answered Prayer submitted by the inmates themselves. They are encouraged to send Daily Devotionals that will be printed in the newsletter to share with others.
Each inmates receives a birthday card, Christmas Card, and cards for all other holidays. Sometimes this is the only mail they received from anyone.
If you have someone that is currently Behind The Walls and would like for them to be added to this ministry, please submit their name and OPUS number and they will begin to receive this newletter. It is amazing how this contact through cards and letters has touched the lives of so many who have been forgotten by society.
